  • Young Hero: Standing tall among Vietnamese Rangers at a decoration ceremony is Ta Thai Manh, who received a medal by the commander of the Ranger forces in Vietnam for his actions against the Viet Cong during their Tet offensive in Saigon. The youth was captured by the Viet Cong in his native village near Saigon on the first day of fighting, but escaped to lead Vietnamese Rangers back to the village where they captured seven guerrillas. At the ceremony he was made an honorary Ranger, able to wear their red beret, camouflage uniform and badge, March 1968
